The Foo Fighters pay homage to the Dew Drop Inn

The HBO series 'Sonic Highways' follows the Foo Fighters to eight different cities as they record their new album. One of the most popular episodes took place in New Orleans, and while most of the hour highlights Preservation Hall, there is a brief tribute to the Dew Drop Inn's significance.

This is just another reminder of the critical part the Dew Drop Inn played in the city's history.

Here is an article about the series and the New Orleans episode:

Creating a Better Block along the LaSalle Corridor

On November 7th, 2014  the Dew Drop Inn FamilyHarmony Neighborhood Development, the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority, the REALTOR® Conference & Expo, and the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® helped to bring the Better Block model to the LaSalle Corridor.

Better Block is a national campaign working to fight blight and show the potential of a block or corridor in need of revitalization. Better Block awareness programs have included launching pop-up businesses and repairing of homes and businesses, and many have resulted in permanent improvement for the focus area.

At the Better Block NOLA - LaSalle Corridor event, local bands played jazz and blues music while residents mingled and children played games. Kids also etched drawings on one side of a boarded-up house to create an art installation displaying the children’s dreams for the future and community.

An exciting piece of this event was the announcement that the Dew Drop is coming back. A temporary facade designed and installed by the Tulane City Center was unveiled and people were given the opportunity to peak into the building to view a video showing the space as it was.
